Trees, pencils, business cards and events

So this week is Illustration Week ( similar to Fashion Week but targeted towards the print industry). As the result there are a bunch of symposiums, talks, presentations and a big Party sponsored by American Illustration with the release of their Annual for the year. Since i have one of my illustrations (check it out here ) featured in the annual, i will attend the festivities and  hopefully will be able to untie my tongue and network. Aside from  the Society's of Illustrators annual exhibit, this party is one of the biggest events of the year( do you feel my nervous laughter and twitching?, not yet... wait till 7 today :))

For the event i have splurged on some business cards and i have to say they are like collectors items :)

May be a little excessive ... but then again, how often do i do it?

So that's that.

Since the little break i had at the farm last week, i have been trying to stay tranquil and  selective in my endeavors.  Being able to draw from life over there i have realized that i need to be doing this on the daily basis regardless of how cramped i am  with projects either self inflicted or proposed. With each new drawing i learn something new and with each new study it gets easier to capture the essence of the object. And i forgot how much i love to work in pencil!!!!!The weather has been perfect this week and so i got out of town to draw on a forest trail in Tuxedo, NY and mr. Darcy and I have spend a lot time sketching in the park near us.

Here are the drawings from the farm :

 and Tuxedo and park:

This is it for today.

For the next two weeks i will be busy sketching for "War Horse" ( a book proposed by Folio Society for their annual competition) and work on my folktale series for Spectrum.

Tootles!
