Beach Babies

Sitting on the platform waiting for the N train, i can't help but always wonder how people live so close to the train. Do they get immune to the never ending noise? Or do they wake up in the middle of the night and curse the MTA?

I take the N train all the way to the last stop and immerse myself in a wonderland of thrill rides, Nathan's hot dogs and miles and miles of beach line. If you get out here early enough, you might catch a patch of clean sand and find some peace by the water. Oh, Coney Island.... you and your attitude. I prefer you in the winter when you are lonely and  forgotten by thrill seekers till the next summer.

Melting under the hot sun i spotted  a mother of three who was feeding one of her kids while the other two got busy with the sand. They looked like Mowgli  - wild hair, athletic little bodies and big disarming smiles. The sand was their little treasure and i was envious of them, wishing that i was able to recognize more in it than i was able to through my adult eyes.
